About Carduso Capital B.V.

Investments in innovative technology companies
Carduso Capital invests in innovative technology companies with strong affiliations with the University of Groningen (RUG), the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) and knowledge institutes in their network. These can be spin-offs or start-ups as well as established companies that wish to extend based on their technological know-how, research and collaborations with the RUG and the UMCG. Emphasis is on companies in the focus areas Life Sciences, Energy and Sustainable Society. RUG and UMCG are co-initiators of Carduso Capital.

Venture capital for promising technology companies
Carduso Capital invests in promising technology companies looking for venture capital to be able to grow. Carduso Capital knows exactly what phases these companies will be going through. To meet the different financing needs in each phase, Carduso Capital has created an internal Seed facility with an adjusted investment scope.
Carduso Capital aims at long-term cooperation with the companies in which it invests. In order to support success, multiple investment rounds can be financed, if necessary – either alone or together with other investors.

Active participation adds value
In addition to financing, Carduso Capital also deploys management support, strategic knowledge and our broad network. This has major added value. Carduso Capital’s active participation yields added value and transformation of knowledge in cost-effective technology companies. Entrepreneurs are actively supported in realising their plans and trying to achieve an attractive return for everyone involved.

Carduso Capital selection criteria
The products and services of the companies in Groningen in which Carduso invests satisfy unmet needs that can be easily grasped based on realistic assumptions, schedules and scenarios. Inventions by emerging companies, start-ups and university spin-offs:

  • Have a completed proof of concept.
  • Have been worked out in a functional prototype.
  • Are expected to enter the commercial market shortly.

Carduso Capital’s investment scope depends on the phase of the company, but ranges from a minimum of €100K to a maximum of €5,000K per investment.

People make the difference
People are crucial for the success of any company. Employers, initiators and management of the companies in which we invest are highly qualified professionals willing to work with the company in the long term, also in difficult times. After all, these adventures never form a straight line to success.
